While sitting by the side of the pond there was a commotion in the reeds by the shore. A young coot hen came out in a hurry pursued by 2 or 3 larger male coots. I watched for a while and finally decided to get my camera working.
There should be a number of new mallards and coots by the time spring gets here as a result of the activities I observed. A few of them will survive the appetites of the eagles, chickenhawks and coyotes.
